Planting In The Garden With The Sonder Project
We love partnering with the Sonder Project for a garden upgrade in Destin and planting for the winter. We have two gardens (one in Destin and the other on the Walton Academy Campus) and students in our kitchen program and volunteers help us to maintain these gardens. The vegetables we grow are used in the kitchen classes and support our seasonal programs. We're working to continue making our programs sustainable, and our gardens are helping to make this happen!

Volunteer Spotlight- Ann Grelling Foster
Ann Grelling FosterHow long have you been volunteering with FFT?Off and on in different capacities for 6 years. What drew me to FFT?I met Tiffanie very early on when she first founded FFT and her enthusiasm towards tackling the issue of childhood hunger was infectious.Favorite part about being involved with FFT?My favorite part is knowing that as a volunteer I’m able to make a difference regardless of what I'm able to contribute~ whether it be my time, my resources or simply a jar of peanut butter, the children of this community will directly reap the benefits.
Do you have a special memory or something that has impacted you during services that you would like to share?I was involved in holiday services at AMIKids in FWB a couple of years ago. Experiencing the gratitude and the sense of relief that the bags of food brought to the kids & their families was indescribably fulfilling and heartwarming.Thank you for your support, Ann! We are lucky to have you as a dedicated volunteer! -

Volunteer Spotlight- Rose Weck
Rose WeckHow long have you been volunteering with FFT?I have been volunteering with FFT since Sept 2012.What drew me to FFT?My oldest daughter is a teacher so I was aware of how hunger impacts the classroom. I love the concept that if we feed these children on the weekend, then they will show up Monday morning ready to learn. The simple concept of food in a backpack shows these kids that they are important and loved.Favorite part about being involved with FFT?One of my favorite things is how the community has stepped up and supported FFT. When I first started with FFT we were only in 2 schools and served 100 kids a week.Do you have a special memory or something that has impacted you during services that you would like to share?I will never forget the student who came running after me as we were delivering backpacks one Friday. She said we had not left enough backpacks for her class and without her backpack, her family would have no food for the weekend. She said her father had lost his job and that her whole family needed her backpack of food.We appreciate all that you do for FFT, Rose! You have put in countless hours making sure the backpacks get out to the kids in the community. Thank you for always showing up!
