  • Freeport Schools Added to FFT Program!

Food for Thought Outreach is officially adding both Freeport Middle and Freeport Elementary Schools into our services. With that said, we will now serve all 3 schools in Freeport, as we have only served the High School for many years. We are beginning enrollment now into the backpack program and will look to add volunteers and sponsors from the Freeport community to our organization.

We also want to thank our friends at Portland United Methodist Church for lending their hands to Food for Thought, and for all the work they have done over the years to also provide food for students at Freeport Middle and Freeport Elementary school!

If you or anyone you know might want to help, please reach out to us at volunteer@fftfl.org.

We are hoping to start back pack services next week!

  • Back-pack Services Begin!

In-School backpack delivery begins this weekend for the 2019/20 school year! Thank you to all the volunteers and donors who have made it possible for us to deliver backpacks of food to over 3K students in our community again this year! We are fighting the battle against childhood hunger together and are pleased to know that students will be a little less hungry over the weekend.

  • 6th Annual Stock the Pantry brings in more than 330K Food Items!!

Wow! We are truly amazed by the number of food items that were donated this year at our 6th Annual Stock the Pantry Food Drive!
This year, 110k MORE food items were donated this year compared to the food drive last year for a total of 336,850 food items, which exceeded our goal of 300K food items to kick off the 2019/20 school year.
A HUGE thank you to all of the participating teams this year, and for all that came to the Stock the Pantry Party with donations as well.
The winning team for the food drive competition was Newman-Dailey Resort Properties (78,399 food items).  The Rookie of the year award went to Hilary & Reverie with 43,848 food items.
We are so thankful for all of these teams and the community coming together this year to participate in the Stock the Pantry Food Drive; it helps us tremendously to be able to kick of our in-school services.  We went from having NO food on our pantry shelves, to now being stocked and ready for our first snack service on Friday, August 30th, and for our first distribution of backpacks the first week in September.
    Thank you again!

  • Cram the Van Success!

What a great way to kick off our Summer Program food drive! Thank you to Pizza by the Sea, Winn-Dixie and Grand Boulevard for hosting our vans to collect food items for our summer program. There was a great turn out at each location over the last two weeks, and we are grateful to you and your customers for helping to fill our pantry for the summer.

Look below at the number of food items that were collected through each location; these donations have helped to provide for our first summer service earlier this week:

    • Pizza-by-the-Sea: 1,227 food items
    • Winn-Dixie Destin: 801 food items and $1K in monetary donations
    • Grand Boulevard Farmer's Market: 355 food items and $135 in monetary donations

We still are collecting donations for the 2nd and 3rd summer meal service.  You can drop off donations at any of the pantry locations on Tuesdays, from 8:30-4:30, or donate online HERE
