• Planting In The Garden With The Sonder Project

We love partnering with the Sonder Project for a garden upgrade in Destin and planting for the winter. We have two gardens (one in Destin and the other on the Walton Academy Campus) and students in our kitchen program and volunteers help us to maintain these gardens. The vegetables we grow are used in the kitchen classes and support our seasonal programs. We're working to continue making our programs sustainable, and our gardens are helping to make this happen!

  • Holiday Sponsor A Family

"Tis the season to help the ones that need it most. Over the extended holiday breaks from school, the food insecure children in our program will miss more than 30 meals over Thanksgiving and Christmas Breaks. FFT works to bridge that gap with our holiday services and will distribute over 20,000 meals to the children in our program. Click the image below to sponsor a family this holiday season.

  • Harvest Wine and Food Festival

Our volunteers had a great time at the DCWAF Harvest Wine and Food Festival in Wartercolor this past weekend! FFT is beyond grateful to have the support of DCWAF and we enjoy being involved in their events.

  • Volunteer Spotlight- Rose Weck

How long have you been volunteering with FFT?
I have been volunteering with FFT since Sept 2012.
    What drew me to FFT?
My oldest daughter is a teacher so I was aware of how hunger impacts the classroom.  I love the concept that if we feed these children on the weekend, then they will show up Monday morning ready to learn. The simple concept of food in a backpack shows these kids that they are important and loved.
Favorite part about being involved with FFT?
One of my favorite things is how the community has stepped up and supported FFT. When I first started with FFT we were only in 2 schools and served 100 kids a week.
Do you have a special memory or something that has impacted you during services that you would like to share?
I will never forget the student who came running after me as we were delivering backpacks one Friday. She said we had not left enough backpacks for her class and without her backpack, her family would have no food for the weekend. She said her father had lost his job and that her whole family needed her backpack of food.
We appreciate all that you do for FFT, Rose! You have put in countless hours making sure the backpacks get out to the kids in the community. Thank you for always showing up!

  • The Sonder Project in the FFT Garden

This year we have partnered with The Sonder Project to work on our Full Circle garden located at our Destin pantry. The Sonder Project's goal is to support local organizations combatting hunger, and raise awareness around issues related to food security, clean water and education. They are providing us with the materials to maintain a successful garden in which we will use what is grown in our Full Circle kitchen. We are delighted to have The Sonder Project work in the garden and look forward to growing fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits.
