• Fact Friday: Backpacks

Did you know that we delivered 112,000 backpacks last school year?! These backpacks were delivered to 3,300 students at 33 schools in Okaloosa and Walton County. This backpack of food costs $5 per child per week, but helps to keep them from being hungry over the weekend.

  • Calling All Volunteers!

Calling All Volunteers! We need your help now that we are in full swing for the school year.

Each Thursday and Friday we deliver and distribute the backpacks of food at the schools and we need volunteers to assist in this process.  Do you live near a school? Are you an early bird and can take the van of backpacks to the schools early?! If so, we could use your help!

We also are starting back up the kitchen classes in the Emeril Lagasse Foundation Full Circle Kitchen.  You do not need to be a chef to teach these students how to cook! We are just looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are able to follow a recipe and lead kids in cooking a recipe - we keep the meals pretty simple so that they may be able to replicate at home.

If you are interested or available, please contact us via email here: volunteer@fftfl.org.

    Thank you!

  • Welcome, Lori Ward to the FFT Board of Directors!

We are thankful to have Lori Ward join the Food For Thought board of directors!
As a Board Certified Real Estate Attorney, her focus at Emmanuel Sheppard & Condon is on residential real estate transactions (although she’s done a bit a everything connected to real estate over her 20+ years in the area). Outside her 9-to-5 job, Lori is a serial volunteer and is a past president of the Junior League of the Emerald Coast, a founding Evergreen member of Impact 100 of Northwest Florida, current president of the Walton County Bar Association and serves on the Board of Directors for Legal Services of North Florida, Inc.

Lori is excited to serve on the FFT Board of Directors as she has watched the organization grow since 2010 when her oldest was in elementary school, volunteered regulartly with ESC, and she is passionate about the mission of FFT and where it will grow in the future!
