Food For Thought helps to relieve stress over the holidays for families in our community
The holidays are a favorite time a year for many of us but for others it is very stressful. 1 in 5 parents can't stop thinking about how they are going to feed their children while they are out of school for Thanksgiving and Christmas break.
Many children who are food insecure receive breakfast and lunch from in-school programs. While home for Thanksgiving and Christmas break, parents must cover these meals, causing many children to miss 20 - 40 meals while they are home.
Food For Thought provides holiday service during Thanksgiving and Christmas break to families in the schools we serve. Three bags of food are given to each family containing food to prepare a holiday meal, food to easily prepare for the rest of the break and fresh produce. Food For Thought is expecting to serve around 500 families this holiday season.
