Golfers And Sponsors Show Support For Local Non-Profit
Local golfers and businesses showed up in support of fighting child hunger in our community at the 4th Annual Food For Thought Golf Tournament, presented by Sunburst Beach Vacations and A Superior Air Conditioning Company, on April 9th at the Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club. The local non-profit moved their tournament last year to the popular course, which was recently named “The Hot Spot for Golf” by 30A.com fans. It was a great success, raising over $8,000 to help their mission to provide easy-to-prepare meals for students in need through their weekly backpack, snack, and holiday programs throughout Okaloosa and Walton counties.
“We’ve really enjoyed working with the staff at Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club,” Food For Thought Founder and Director Tiffanie Nelson said. “Our players love the course and I believe that it moves many of our golfers to come back year after year. We have steadily raised more money at this tournament over the last two years and hope to see that continued growth. Our presenting sponsors, hole sponsors, raffle partners, and food and drink vendors continue to make this tournament a success.”
The tournament featured special treats from Pop Stop, Grayton Beer Company, and bagged lunches from St. Joe Clubs & Resorts along with raffle items from YOLO, Sunrise Chair Co., and Live Well 30A. Silver Sands Premium Outlets sponsored the award ceremony at The Vue on 30A while golfers enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and beautiful Gulf views.
“Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club is honored to host such a worthy event at our Club each year,” says Director of Golf Operations, Carter Murchison. “Our members and staff appreciate all that Food For Thought does for hungry children in our community. We are thankful to contribute to their great efforts.”
The tournament will continue to take place at Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club for the foreseeable future. “This is a very important relationship for us, we want to continue to work with Carter and his team to put on this event that is very special to Food For Thought and the community,” added Nelson.
