Volunteer Coordinator

Full Time & Hourly 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Volunteer Coordinator works to engage, train and retain an active volunteer group that is ready to support the program needs of the organization. Within this role, the work will require strong written communication skills along with the organization of data online. The volunteer coordinator will support the volunteer process across the service area of the organization and all the programs offered. This dynamic role must embrace and model a passion for the mission and a commitment to the work required to deliver on our mission. A working understanding of all programs is required to best train and develop volunteers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Engage, Train and Retain an active volunteer base needed for all programs throughout the year
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and paperwork
  • Onsite volunteer training across the service area
  • Onsite for all volunteer focused events and outreach
  • Provide timely and effective volunteer communication via email, phone and in person
  • Connect volunteers to opportunities to serve and support the organization
  • Connects the team to the volunteers needed to fill the needs of all programs and events
  • Works with volunteer groups to engage them in overall needs of the organization
  • Works within the programs to support the organization and model the standards required in a volunteer trainer
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

SCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY:

Employees may be required to attend events and/or be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the Organization. The Volunteer Coordinator must be available for all critical volunteer events, training and outreach efforts.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.  Positive and outgoing personality is a must. Must have a strong working knowledge of Google Suites. Prior experience training of staff or volunteers required.

Conditions of Work:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to the elements including wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and rain. This position requires travel within the service areas of the organization and requires the employee the regularly drive a company vehicle. Employees are frequently required to use climb, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
