• Volunteer Spotlight- Ann Grelling Foster

    Ann Grelling Foster
How long have you been volunteering with FFT?
Off and on in different capacities for 6 years.
    What drew me to FFT?
I met Tiffanie very early on when she first founded FFT and her enthusiasm towards tackling the issue of childhood hunger was infectious.
Favorite part about being involved with FFT?
My favorite part is knowing that as a volunteer I’m able to make a difference regardless of what I'm able to contribute~ whether it be my time, my resources or simply a jar of peanut butter, the children of this community will directly reap the benefits.
Do you have a special memory or something that has impacted you during services that you would like to share?
I was involved in holiday services at AMIKids in FWB a couple of years ago. Experiencing the gratitude and the sense of relief that the bags of food brought to the kids & their families was indescribably fulfilling and heartwarming.
Thank you for your support, Ann! We are lucky to have you as a dedicated volunteer!

  • Hiring Part Time Program Coordinator

As the organization grows, so must our team. Food For Thought Outreach is now interviewing for a Part Time Program Coordinator based in the Destin pantry.

FFT is seeking to hire a person that is capable of handling a very physical, task oriented position and often working independently to complete tasks. The position in Destin would be Tuesday - Thursday with a focus on the pantry standards, inventory, preparing for packing, supporting packing and volunteers as needed.

Qualified candidates should submit their resumes to tiffanie@fftfl.org.

  • Volunteer Spotlight- Rose Weck

    Rose Weck
How long have you been volunteering with FFT?
I have been volunteering with FFT since Sept 2012.
    What drew me to FFT?
My oldest daughter is a teacher so I was aware of how hunger impacts the classroom.  I love the concept that if we feed these children on the weekend, then they will show up Monday morning ready to learn. The simple concept of food in a backpack shows these kids that they are important and loved.
Favorite part about being involved with FFT?
One of my favorite things is how the community has stepped up and supported FFT. When I first started with FFT we were only in 2 schools and served 100 kids a week.
Do you have a special memory or something that has impacted you during services that you would like to share?
I will never forget the student who came running after me as we were delivering backpacks one Friday. She said we had not left enough backpacks for her class and without her backpack, her family would have no food for the weekend. She said her father had lost his job and that her whole family needed her backpack of food.
We appreciate all that you do for FFT, Rose! You have put in countless hours making sure the backpacks get out to the kids in the community. Thank you for always showing up!

  • The Sonder Project in the FFT Garden

This year we have partnered with The Sonder Project to work on our Full Circle garden located at our Destin pantry. The Sonder Project's goal is to support local organizations combatting hunger, and raise awareness around issues related to food security, clean water and education. They are providing us with the materials to maintain a successful garden in which we will use what is grown in our Full Circle kitchen. We are delighted to have The Sonder Project work in the garden and look forward to growing fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits.
